From pathogens to partners: temporal and biogeographical patterns in fungal associations of…

Kohout Lab primarily focuses on fungal ecology and biogeography. We try to understand the drivers of fungal species distribution and predict how fungi will respond to various aspects of global change. Besides that, we aim to understand the role of fungi and other microorganisms in ecosystem processes. Our work aims to create scientific foundations to future ecosystem management from local to global scales.
In addition to our research goals, we strive to provide a stimulating environment for master’s and doctoral students, as well as postdoctoral fellows, to develop their professional and personal skills and become independent researchers.
Our research
provide the access to published data on fungal and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal community composition obtained by high-throughput-sequencing through a web-based interface that allows various queries of the database and visualization of the results. This idea was conceived by a group of researchers from the Institute of Microbiology of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague – the GlobalFungi team.
